A Bushfire Management Plan outlines the mitigation strategies to be implemented for a development or site to reduce the risk of bushfire to an acceptable level. Bushfire management plans are sometimes requested by Council as part of a material change of use or development application.

Generally, Bushfire Management Plans include an assessment of the bushfire hazard to the site and recommendations to ensure that the risk posed from bushfire is managed at a tolerable and acceptable level.

These recommendations may include strategic access firebreaks, hazard separation zones, ongoing responsibilities of maintenance, firefighting water supply, amongst other requirements.
